Marketing Channels

Goods and services exchange hands every single day in the world economy. Companies use several channels to move their products and services. I am going to briefly cover the three channels that I use on a regular basis.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is a channel that a company or individual uses to sell products and services. The affiliate advertises and promotes the product or service both online and offline in exchange for a percentage of the sale or commission. The amount of the commission is agreed upon when the Affiliate applies to the company or individual on a contractual basis. The affiliate is NOT an employee. Once the sale is made, the company will pay the commission either one time or on an ongoing basis depending on the agreement with the company. Some subscription services affiliate programs can pay residual income as long as the customer continues the subscription.

Direct Sales

Direct sales is the process where a company gets its product or service directly to the customer. There are direct sales reps that earn income by promotions that target consumers. Many companies use direct sales with home party plans. Tupperware has used home party sales to get its products directly to customers for decades.

Marketers like me also have products and services on websites where a customer can make a purchase via a payment processor. I use Pay Pal for my customers orders. The customer purchases the product off my site and pays through their Pay Pal account. I receive an email of the transaction and then either ship the product out of my inventory or drop ship it from my supplier to the customer directly. I strongly suggest being involved with companies that will allow you to drop ship and NOT be required to stock any inventory. I keep a certain amount of inventory on hand after analyzing the amount of demand from my customers.

Network Marketing or Multi Level Marketing

Depending on who you talk to, Network Marketing is a scam or the greatest distribution model ever invented. Thousands of companies are turning to Network Marketing because the company can grow rapidly without having to market or advertise their products or services. The company instead pays a distributor that builds a network of consumers. This frees up companies to concentrate on the core business of having the best product or service in its category and allows for the marketing discipline to be handled by eager distributors.

Robert Kiyosaki is a well known author of the book: Rich Dad, Poor Dad. He made a statement that most people go to work for employers every work day. Entrepreneurs build networks. Every person has a network. Networks include people you went to school with, friends, social contacts, community contacts, and business associates. It is common knowledge that a well connected person has at least 200 people show up at a memorial service when the person dies.

In the 1930′s, Wachters introduced a sea vegetable to consumers via Network Marketing. This company began during the Depression and is still in business as of 2012. Wachters paid distributors commissions for the network of consumers that purchased Wachters products. Many other companies have successfully used the Network Marketing channel to get their products and services to the end consumer. Why is Network Marketing a smart business model?

Network Marketing pays residual income. When a person goes to work for an employer, they are trading time for an hourly salary or set amount of money. When you build a network of consumers you can earn monthly commissions over and over again as long as the customer continues to purchase the product or service. A good example of residual income is an insurance agent or the internet service provider you are using. These companies get paid over and over again as long as you continue to use their service or product.

Unlock Your Mobile Phone

Want to use your Iphone on T-Mobile? Want to use your Verizon Droid on AT&T? Traveling abroad and don't want to pay huge international roaming fees?

What is Unlocking?

Some of you might be wondering what unlocking is. Usually unlocking refers to SIM unlocking. Cell phones are almost always locked to the carrier you purchased them from, meaning you can't use it on any other network. Phones from GSM carriers (such as T-Mobile and AT&T) and global phones (that have a SIM card slot) can be unlocked to work on all other GSM networks. CDMA carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, etc. do not have SIM slot or GSM functionality unless they are a global phone. That is what SIM unlocking means.

How do I unlock my phone for FREE?

The easiest way to unlock a phone is by using an unlock code. Each phone has a unique IMEI# (International Mobile Equipment Identity) that can be found on the retail box of the phone, on the back of the phone under the battery, by dialing *#06# from the dialpad, or in the phones about settings.

The first and best option to get your code for free is to call your carrier and ask for it. All carriers will give you the unlock code for your phone if you have had it for 3-6 months and have an account in good standing. Just call them up and tell them you plan to travel and want your phone unlocked. If you don't qualify for this read on.

Free Unlock Codes

Not all phones can be unlocked for free, but a growing number can be. For example older AEG, Alcatel, LG, Maxon, NEC, Nokia, Panasonic, Samsung, Siemens, Sony, Toshiba, Vitel can all be unlocked for free at unlockbase.com. Free BlackBerry codes can be found at freemyblackberry.com. These are all free because they can be easily calculated based on the IMEI. If you don't have one of these devices you will probably have to pay for your unlock code. Ebay usually has the cheapest rates unless you negotiate rates with a seller. They usually are charging 2-15x what it costs them to acquire.

Root and Unlock your Android Phone

Unlock your Samsung Galaxy S II, Captivate, Vibrant, Galaxy S 4G, i9000 or any Galaxy S device, Sidekick 4G, Infuse or HTC G2 or Desire Z for FREE

Rooting is the process that gives you root access to your phone, allowing you to flash custom ROMs and many other fun things. If you have a Samsung Galaxy S II, Captivate, Vibrant, Galaxy S 4G, i9000, Infuse, or Sidekick 4G or HTC Desire Z or G2 you can also unlock your phones for free. There are guides at forum.xda-developers.com. These will take a little bit of time 10-60 minutes to learn and perform.

Many other Android phones might also be able to be unlocked for free – search XDA for your model and find out. If you need any help finding information just comment below and I will add more information.

How to Jailbreak and Unlock your IPhone for FREE

If you have heard of jailbreaking, it is usually referring to allowing non-Apple applications on your iphone, ipad or ipod. This can be done with almost any firmware version. If you have an AT&T iPhone you might be able to unlock if you have an older firmware/baseband version. Unlocking instructions can be found at iclarified.com or blog.iphone-dev.org/.

You will first need to jailbreak, then install UltraSn0w. If your baseband is not one that can be unlocked with UltraSn0w you can check to see if a Gevey SIM will work. It is a device that attaches to your SIM card and forces the device to allow other SIM cards to work as well. There are some services that claim they will unlock any IPhone version for around $50, a quick Google search will bring these options up. I haven't tried them personally and can't vouch for them.

How to Earn Residual Income for Life

People often ask me what is the “key” to success in Direct Selling, but there is no “exact formula.” I know desire, sacrifice and hard work over time are absolute requirements, but even these elements don’t constitute a guarantee.

When I began my career in Direct Selling over 20 years ago, I was working full-time as a policeman. I put in long hours on the phone and in meetings on top of the 40-plus weekly hours of my “day job,” building a Customer base, signing up new Associates and eventually teaching those Associates what I’d learned. I made a lot of mistakes, and there were many, many months when my phone bill was larger than my commission check. I stuck with it, though, sacrificing valuable “free time” because I saw the potential in earning income from a team’s work rather than just my own. But at the same time, I understood that Direct Selling was really just an opportunity-what I got out of it depended on the dedication and “sweat equity” I put into it.

That’s very important to remember if you are considering joining Solavei as an Independent Associate: while the possibility of earning supplemental income exists, what you get out of your Solavei business depends entirely upon successful sales efforts, which require hard work, diligence and leadership, and how well you exercise these qualities. It also takes time to learn to be your own boss, train your team and build the proper infrastructure.

Direct Selling is a 2 to 5-year plan; you will not be able to retire in 4-6 months. You must work the business for AT LEAST 1 year to even reach a good evaluation point from which you can really measure your progress, but I honestly believe that if you follow the system and consistently dedicate 7-10 hours per week for a year, you will be at a place where you won’t want to stop. But you must be willing to dedicate yourself, and sacrifice your own “comfort time” and other activities in exchange for the opportunity to earn additional income.

No Income Is Promised

In my opinion, no company should ever make get-rich-quick claims. Unfortunately, some companies in the Direct Selling industry imply that potential Associates can make a full-time income, or in some cases a lot more, with very little work. This is one of the reasons why so many people new to the industry become disenchanted and quit.

The reality, however, is that in Direct Selling, most Associates do not receive “substantial income,” and a majority receives no income at all. This is true of Solavei as well. Some join a company just to get the product at a discount, and many join to get the product at a discount and make a small side income. A very small percentage of Associates earn what most people consider a “full-time” income, and just like in any other industry, the “top earners” are the rare minority. We tell you this because, unlike some companies, we want you to be fully informed and consider ourselves to be a refreshingly honest voice within the industry.

At Solavei, our core leadership of Associates fully understands that in order to be successful, it takes a sacrifice that is difficult to put into words. And it is up to you to decide to make that sacrifice.
